Friendship Quilt

Some lady friends of mine had been planning on doing a friendship quilt for quite a while and we have only decided on the blocks to work on in late June this year. We have many designs that we all like however at the end we chose the Baltimore Album's appliqué project.

There were initially six of us who were interested in the project; however one of us couldn't make it to join us this time round. The total numbers of blocks were 12 and each person have 2 friendship blocks and the other 2 blocks are to be for one's own to complete the set.

Initially all of us were so eager to start with the project, with one of us completing hers in the same week we distributed out our fabrics to each other! Others (including good ole' me) were as slow as a snail in their process and put on the backburner as other things crop up.

However, working hard has its results and in the month of August we basically completed all the friendship blocks and each one of us have a total of 10 blocks. I completed my other 2 blocks two days ago and now I have started to think about how I'm joining it all together. It's all just blobbing around on my floor, on my sewing table, back to the floor again and back onto the sewing table yet again! Unfortunately I don't have a design wall and am forever placing it, then picking it all up again. I suppose the good thing about this is that I can change my mind all the time, depending on how I want it to be. The bad thing is I have a terrible memory, so all is new all the time!

Like it or not, I have to decide soon because our next meeting is this Friday, and every one is expected to show off the workmanship of their finished quilted wall-hanging and if not, at least a complete assembled top! Guess the latter is how mine would be then! Sob! Sob!

Oh well! I am more than happy because this is my first friendship quilt I've ever made since I started doing patchwork way back in 1997.
